Sulthan Bathery, also called ‘Sulthan Battery’ is located in Wayanad district of Kerala. It is about 25 Kms from Kalpetta.
Formerly known as ‘Ganapathivattom’, it got its present name from Tipu Sultan (King of Mysore), who constructed a fort here during the 18th century. Tipu captured the Jain temple here and used it as his battery.
The stone carving and paintings on the walls of the Jain temple are as ancient as this centuries old temple
Sulthan Bathery is home to coffee, tea and rubber plantations.
12 Km away from Sulthan Bathery lies the Ambukuthimala with its stone age paintings.
Wayanad wildlife sanctuary is not very far from Sulthan Bathery.
The place is well connected by roads to all places in Kerala.
