A Bold Resistance

Two women employees of Annapoorneswari Temple at Cherukunnu in Kannur district have become heroines in the eyes of public in Kerala. In this temple the feudal practice of removing the plantain leaves in which the Brahmins ate by non-Brahmins still continues even in this modern era.
The other day two non-Brahmin women employees of the temple P V Kamalakshi and A V Vasanthakumari refused to remove the plantain leaves left behind by the Brahmins after having consumed ‘prasadam oottu’ (ritual feast). Both the women insisted those who (Brahmins or non-Brahmins) consumed prasadam meals in the leaf should remove the leaf themselves.
Support is pouring to them from all corners.
