A Rare Achievement in Medical Entrance Test
Five first ranks... but still watched all the movies.
A Malayali girl earned five first ranks in five medical entrance examinations. She is none other than Archana, daughter of Total Gas Company Vice President Sasi Chemmankottil and Dr Jyothi.
The prestigious wins are from AIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science). Here the questions are always very tough.. Yet, Archana’s 1st rank victory was after putting behind 85000 entrance aspirants. Other four first ranks were from KOMEDK (Private Medical Entrance Examination of Karnataka), KMC (Kasturba Medical College); Manipal, JIPMER (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research), Pudussery and Karnataka CET (Common Entrance Test).
She created the success through planned and continued study. In the first half of the year she studied the subjects. Reading of reference books followed. Collected last 15 years question papers and studied them well
Four to eight in the evening spent for entrance coaching. 3 to 4 hours home study, noting down of important points, inter-action with students in coaching class etc were her mode of learning.
Archana missed no films released. Reading of novels, watching TV and learning and practicing music were no exception. Parents gave her freedom to study in her own way.
Sas’s family is now settled in Bangalore.
