Cashew nut Shell Checkmates Diabetes
Research head Dr Bipin Nair, Dean of Amrita School of Biotechnology, said they have been working on the potential of anacardic acid found in the cashew nut shell which has a fast healing property capable of healing wounds and blisters in diabetes patients.
A drug made out of cashew nut shell extract useful for diabetes therapy is on the anvil. Amrita University in Kerala in collaboration with Oxford University and San Diego University has embarked on research to develop a drug out of cashew nut shell extract for diabetes therapy. The research has been proved successful and the drug may hit the market soon.
