Kalparasa – New Avathar Neera
Neera tapping was not allowed in the State till now and it has now been allowed and soon commercial production of Neera which is a sweet sap not at all alcoholic like toddy.
Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI) has developed a brand of Neera called Kalparas with a new tap technique and a new technology device.
Neera, the sweet sap tapped from immature infloresence of coconut is rich in nutritional and health value. The tap technique developed by CPCRI yields fresh, hygienic, chemicals-free and contaminants-free sap.
The sap tapped by the new device flows into a bottle kept in an icebox with icecubes. As the device is airtight, the sap become free from contamination and in the icebox it remains cool and fermentation prevented.
