Keralite – A Ballroom Champion in Britain
The crowning was at British National Dance Festival held in Blackpool few days back.
Chindu Sreedharan, 39, of Pala in Kottayam district, a journalism lecturer in Bournemouth University has climbed to the crown of National Senior Ballroom Dance Championship of Britain in company with Janine Nicole. The crowning was at British National Dance Festival held in Blackpool few days back.
The duo excelled and classed out others in four dance formats out of the total five formats. They won in Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz and finished third in Tango. The duration of each dance was 1.45 minutes. To the audience the duration time may look too short but for the performers it is too taxing.
Chindu was a former associate editor at Rediff.
Having won one of the biggest ballroom dance titles in UK, Chindu and his partner Janine will now represent UK in the World Championship scheduled in May next.
