Kerala couple is to perform ‘thayambaka
For the first time in Kerala a couple is about to perform ‘thayambaka’, a percussion music, in public. An ayurvedic physician Dr Nandini of Poonjar and her husband Kalamandalam Hareeesh of Palakkad will form thayambaka in a temple in Poonjar on 23 October, the Mahanavami day. Post-graduation study in ayurveda intending Dr Nalini has been learning thyambaka, a rhythmic beat on ‘chenda’, (a percussion music instrument) for the last 14 years. Hareesh is a chenda instructor at Kerala Kalamandalam deemed university at Cheruthuruthy in Thrissur district. Their marriage itself was a product of love for thayambaka of both.
