Kannimari teak in Parambikulam of Kerala with 642 cm girth was the biggest in Asia till the other day. The status of biggest teak in Asia has now been taken from Kannimari teak by the teak with 765 cm girth spotted last day in Kappayan of Thundathil range of Malayattoor division in Kerala. The teak is about 40 metre tall and having undergone a life span of about 500 years.

The teak was detected by a man cutting bamboo from bamboo forest. He immediately reported to the forest officials who in turn took the measurement of it. None of the officials had noticed a teak amidst the bamboo forest.Malayalam Mission of Kerala
