The Retreat Bungalow 

The Retreat Bungalow is an old style building in Vagamon built on the foot of the huge Kurisumala pilgrim rock that can be seen on the southern side of the bungalow. The sloped, tin roofed and granite masoned building has a tiny eastward facing portico at the front. As you enter the living room and the dining room your eyes are sure to catch the long stretches of meadows flowing down the west side of the bungalow.Located on a piece of land sculpted by nature, this enchanting home stay is a visual treat.

The two spacious and well-spread bedrooms are on the south and north. There is a swimming pool inside the house, set on the western passage connecting the two bedrooms diagonally set apart. The four-poster wooden furniture with intricate designs seen around are unique pieces collected by the host, Mr. Jacob Mathew Kurvinakunnel. The living room has comfortable sofas with plush upholstery to curl up after a day out.

Some of the activities on offer include a spell of golf, snooker and leisure activities at the nearby Peermade Club or a jeep drive ( could be bone rattling) to the Mundakayam valley via Yendayar to visit J.J. Murphy Bungalow steeped in history . It also promises a breathtaking view of the valley. If you wish you can do nothing and park yourself on the cliff edge to watch an enchanting sun set or make a visit to the homestead of the host to get a feel of the exquisite Kerala architecture done on woodwork.
