How did it go?
Did you enjoy your trip?
Fabulous
What made it so great?
Kerala is indeed a different place from other Indian states and we very much enjoyed seeing it.
What was the highlight of the trip
Birds Lagoon, the 2 nites in the houseboat, and a separate one-day backwater trip we took from Cochi. In fact, I am wondering it it wouldn't be good to schedule more trips from Cochi since the waters seem less crowded than those around Aleppy

It took a little while from my first e-mail, but once we connected everything was great

But I wish that people would believe me when I say I like things "Indian spicy" -- VERY Indian spicy -- not Western spicy. And I wish that some of the hotels had more extensive Indian choices on the included breakfasts
What would you recommend to others
backwaters, Cochi, Birds Lagoon, but a homestay near the Periyar Reserve, preferably overlooking the edge of the reserve rather than the road, and perhaps a homestay inside the birds refuge might be good choices to have.

Hello Tijo, well we are back home now after our wonderful holiday in Kerala, thank you for all the fantastic arrangements you made for us.

We had a very helpful enthusiastic and knowledgeable driver Aljo, he made our holiday special, nothing was too much trouble for him, he was a lovely lovely person and spoke very good english. All the places we stayed in were superb, food excellent, the houseboat was really relaxing and all the staff were very good kind and polite, the food on board was amazing loved it all.
All the accommodation we stayed at we could not fault it was all excellent, loved everything people, food, culture, wildlife, we will certainly pass your company on to anyone else who is thinking of going to Kerala.
Once again Thank you for everything!!!

Dear Thejal,

We are home again, and wish we weren't!

Thank you so very much for all your efforts in making this one of the best and most memorable trips we have ever had. You were very patient with my endless demands, and the whole holiday was pretty much perfect in every way.Anyway, once again, thanks. I'll get in touch with Sholto today and will let you both know when the article is to appear.

All the best,
Judy

Dear Sholto,

Back from my honeymoon, and just wanted to let you know that we had a bloomin brilliant time and loved, loved, loved it.
I have to tell you that Thejal was utterly wonderful, incredibly patient and could not have been more helpful. I was very, very demanding, one way and another, but he didn't bat an eyelid and always sorted us out.
My husband and I are writing the piece as we speak and will send it off by tomorrow to Lisa at the Sun. Will then find out when it's appearing.
I might need some prices from you for each resort - if so, will let you know.
Plus, let me know exactly who we need to credit - your contact/phone details etc. Is it Karma Kerala or Helpmego.to? Or both?.
Thank you so much for helping organise our honeymoon - it was probably our best holiday ever!
The only problem is that it was too short!

Judy

Did you enjoy your trip?

Fabulous

What made it so great?

David, our lovely driver - not just a very good driver, but also a fantastic ambassador to your country. He was always cheery, amazingly informative, full of energy, and kept himself and the car spotless . Very professional -what a lovely man !

What was the highlight of the trip

Although we loved all our stays, possibly Munnar, and the lovely tea bungalow (Nettigudi) we stayed in when we were there was the highlight. Delightful staff - a fantastic chef, and Silva Raj, who had worked there for many years, and who added a great sense of occasion to our stay - he cleans the gleaming floors with half a coconut husk. We went on lovely walks/treks; interesting places to visit nearby - tea museum being one; and played badminton on the tennis court! We also met an extremely interesting couple who were staying in the bungalow aat the same time.

Hotel Name

All the hotels were lovely, with big airy bedrooms and en suite. Two of the hotels housed us in dear little thatched cottages. Great views, loved all the pools - with shade. Friendly and helpful staff. Great restaurants - unfortunately one of the hotels didn't serve wine or beers, as they didn't have a licence at the time. The two sea / lakeside hotels were gorgeous, just a little bit stranded out of nearest town - at least half an hour's tuk tuk ride to Allepey. Some of the hotels had tennis/badminton courts - it was really good fun working off some of the delish curries.

Our lovely driver, David, masterminded our holiday beautifully, guiding us through the shops, booking and arranging events for us - even to finding medication for my persistant cough. He is a star!

About Kerala

If you had some Ayurveda, how did you rate the experience?

Good

Tell us more...

I tried it twice, my husband once: I found it very relaxing and will probably have Ayuvedic reatment again; my husband found it interesting but he probably won't repeat it.

Did you enjoy the food in Kerala?

Excellent

Tell us more...

Delicious, my husband even had masala dosa for breakfast. Meals in England now seem surprisingly bland, luckily I bought 2 Keralan cookbooks to practice on.

What would you recommend to others

Try everything! (just easy on the chillie) The fresh fish, lobsters, prawns are fresh and so so very good. Am not so keen on the buffets.

Anything we haven't covered?

Clothing. Kerala is so very much hotter than the UK. I found that Tshirt type fabric is Much Too Hot - advise travellers to wear light cotton tops/shirts, 'cut off' trousers, light cotton skirts, and to bring a non-greasy sun screen. Pack for one week, and not three! And if you're going to wash an elephant, wear old clothes!
