The Kerala itinerary for visitors from the UK

Two weeks in Kerala from the UK to Cochin and onwards to the beaches, plantations, backwaters and houseboats. Return flight from Trivandrum. This would suit anyone from Europe seeking a great 2 weeks in Kerala!

Fly from UK to Kochi for a 14 day tour of Kerala. We have listed both peak and off season rates for this itinerary and of course the whole thing can be adapted to just about budget by varying accommodation etc.


Tour Colonial town Fort Kochi, stay at a plantation villa, cruise the backwaters in a houseboat and enjoy a beach holiday at Kovalam.

This is a sample, so we can fry it up in all sorts of different ways depending on your tastes. If there are things you definately want to see or do, we can accommodate you without any trouble at all.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : London

Fly overnight from UK to Cochin (usually aboard Emirates) Any flights are quoted separately.

Day 2 : Airport to Fort Cochin

Arrive in Cochin. We will greet you at the airport and transfer to the Heritage area of  Fort Cochin.

Overnight stay at the Old Harbour Hotel.

Day 3 : Sightseeing at Fort Cochin

After breakfast you are taken on a guided tour of the Fort Cochin. Visit the colonial influences in St Francis Church and Santa Cruz Basilica, Chinese Fishing nets and the Jewish Synagogue. Come back to the hotel and in the evening, walk through the streets to see Fort cochin at sunset.

Day 4 : Cochin to Kothamangalam - Mundakkal Plantation House

In the morning after breakfast, drive to the homestay near Thattekad to learn some of the secrets of Kerala cuisine. The Family will host you and take on an in-house plantation visit.

Overnight at Mundackal Plantation House

Day 5 : Kothamangalam - Mundakkal Plantation

In the morning take a guided bird watching session in the Thettakad Bird Sanctuary and visit the dam. Walk for half an hour to reach impressive rocks near-by.

Day 6 : Kothamangalam - Kanam Estate

After the breakfast drive to Kanam Estate. This is an estate with coffee plantations. You can walk around to see the rubber plantations. Take a walk through the coffee plantations or explore the area around on a bicycle.

Overnight at Kanam Estate.

Day 7 : At Serenity at Kanam Estate

Full day at leisure. Spend time with the resident elephant. Ride an elephant.

Day 8 : Kanam Estate to Alleppey 

Drive to Alleppey. A guided walk of the old quarter gives you some hints about the town. Here you can shop for silks and cottons. The guide will take you for a museum visit where the history of Alleppey town is exhibited.

Overnight at Raheem Residency.

Day 9 : Superior Houseboat cruise

Around 12:00 board your houseboat to start the cruise. All meals will be served on board. Cruise covers the main lake, canals and backwater villages. You can have a paddy field walk in between.

Day 10 : Alleppey to Kovalam

Disembark from the houseboat and drive south to the beach at Kovalam. Kovalam beach is the well known beach in South India. The Resort - Travancore Heritage is located in a quiet beach where you can relax. Travancore Heritage has an Ayurveda centre, where you can experience the massages and ayurveda treatments.

Overnight at Travancore Heritage.

Day 11 : Kovalam

Day at leisure in and around the beach and nearby places.

Day 12 : Kovalam

Day at leisure.

Day 13 KovalamTrivandrum Airport

You will be transferred from hotel to Trivandrum airport to board the return flight.
